I was wondering if anyone had any recipes for crab stew -- a friend had it at a restaurant and it smelled divine, but I can't eat soups in places like that due to my corn allergy. The only crab soup recipe that I have is for a crab bisque and it doesn't appear to be like he described it (basically, he said it was generally with a beefy broth and then lots of Old Bay).

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello all - I'm new here and thought I'd introduce myself. I generally cook in the middle of the night when I can't sleep (I made vichyssoise for the first time last night - finished in the wee hours of the morning and haven't eaten it yet), and anytime I get around to washing ALL of my dishes and the lovely clean pots just cry out to be cooked in.

pet peeves: Rachel Ray and all other grammatically-challenged Food Network chefs (original Iron Chef and Alton Brown excepted)

Okay, I don't know how many people have bread machines, but it took me forever to find this recipe (and 2 bread machine recipe books) so I thought I'd share it (especially since I'm making it right now after finally discovering the perfect marinana sauce to use to make sloppy joes for myself.).

Mmmm...you have no idea how I suffered till I found this recipe since I couldn't eat store bread any more. Very good...and my exboyfriend actually prefers them to store bought when I deign to indulge him.

I got this recipe at the County Fair about three years ago from the people selling honey sticks.

Although this has the instructions for the crust, I just used the ready-made stuff to make it go faster.

Yay! I haven't posted here and this place is quiet so, yeah, I am here to throw in my two cents...
Actually, I'd like to borrow two cents.

Anyone have ideas for Easter ham? I don't do pineapples and cherries. Plus it can't be a ham covered in brown sugar or the like as my mother is a diabetic.
Help.

Sorry about the nonposting in this comm, I've been battling a dead computer for my saved recipes and it's been annoying.

But I will offer up one of my favorite recipes, Beer Cheese Soup. It's a combination of the Cheddar Cheese Soup found in the Weight Watchers cookbook All in One Pot and a couple of dashes of inspiration from a resturant beer cheese soup. My mom was a waitress there and it was one of my favorite things to eat, but with this version, it's much healthier, and while it's actually less cheesy than just a generic cheese soup, it's really flavorful thanks to the veggies and spices and the beer. Of course, the beer can be supplanted by additional milk if you prefer.

I tried as best I could to get exact measurements, I don't really measure out my spices and add them to taste, I'm very heavy on things like garlic and paprika because I really, really love it. So you can change things according to your own tastes - and please do so, that's the best part of cooking.

It would seem that the majority of my entrees are in some way related to pasta.

I work all the time. Which means the last thing I want to do when I come home is prepare/cook for an hour or more.

Does anyone have any good entree recipes that are quick, easy, and non-pasta?

It is a fact, universally acknowledged, that regala_electra loves to cook. And slaughter literary quotes. However she loves cooking a bit more.

As this is the first post, I shall explain How It All Came To Be.

jennem forcedconvinced me to visit her in Texas. I was in the lovely company of not only that adorable darling, but also dawnydiesel, eleniangel, gatorjen, and nariya. During my time there, I cooked, I was horrified that they don't sell Perdue chicken in Texas, and I totally got the hang of jennem's kitchen.

After one meal, the idea of a food_chorus was brought up (and all the potential functions will be explained later on in this post and are now posted in the mmm_cooking info page). I offered to set it up, and here it is, and here you are. In a totally virtual way of course, unless you are standing behind my back and oh my god, what was that noise?

Ah, just the clacking of a keyboard. Alright then.

So after polling my flist with every little detail, including the name, I have devised the bestest food/cooking community ever, and yes, they are tons of other lj cooking/food communities, for their love is so canon, but that doesn't matter.

For this one is friendly, snarky, and totally meant to be fun, even when we're being food snobs. (Heck, we should be at our friendliest when we’re being snobs just to disarm people.)
